Bichons have a powder-puff coat, similar to poodles, with a silky but curly outer coat and a soft undercoat. They come in white, white with buff, cream, apricot, and grey. The bichon's length is slightly longer than its height. The plumed tail is draped across the back. Bichons have heads that are proportionate to their bodies, as well as drop ears. Their nose is prominent and dark. Males and females of the breed stand just under 12 inches tall and weigh between seven and twelve pounds (three to six kilograms). The bichon frisé is a great all-around pet that is both playful and gentle. Bichons get along well with other dogs and cats. They are generally thought to be excellent with children. They ranked high on snapping at children in one survey, but exercise caution whenever dogs and small children are present. They were found to be easy to housebreak and train in the same survey, but some owners disagree with the label.
